ICSOC 2026

The 24th International Conference on Service-Oriented Computing

Call for Ph.D. Symposium Papers

The ICSOC 2026 Ph.D. Symposium is an international forum dedicated to Ph.D. students working in all areas related to service-oriented computing. The Symposium aims to bring together doctoral researchers working on foundations, methodologies, techniques, tools, infrastructures, and applications of service-oriented computing and related paradigms.

The main goals of the ICSOC 2026 Ph.D. Symposium are:

  • To provide Ph.D. students with an opportunity to present and refine their research ideas in a supportive and constructive environment
  • To receive constructive feedback and mentorship from established researchers in the service-oriented computing community.
  • To stimulate the exchange of ideas, experiences, and research methodologies among doctoral students facing similar research challenges
  • To strengthen networking and long-term collaboration within the ICSOC community.
  • To provide a forum for discussing broader academic and professional topics, including research design, supervision, publication strategies, career paths, and transitions to academia or industry.

We particularly encourage PhD students who are still developing their research methodology or are midway through their research program to submit their preliminary results to this symposium. Topics are restricted to their doctoral work within the scope of the ICSOC conference.

Eligibility

To be eligible for the PhD Symposium, the candidate must be a current doctoral student at a recognized university. Ideally, the candidate should have at least 12 months work remaining before expected completion, and at least 12 months of work already performed. However, all PhD students are eligible regardless of their doctoral stage.

Important dates

Submissions Deadline 1 October 2026
Author Notification 19 October 2026
Camera-ready 2 November 2026
Conference Dates 1-4 December 2026

All deadlines are in Anywhere on Earth time (AOE = GMT-12). Check the time in the AOE Zone here: https://time.is/AOE

Paper Submission Guidelines

Submitted papers must provide a clear and structured description of the candidate’s doctoral research. In particular, submissions should:

  • Clearly define the research problem and motivation.
  • Outline the research questions and challenges.
  • Describe the adopted or planned research methodology.
  • Present the proposed approach and expected contributions.
  • Discuss preliminary results (if available).
  • Position the work with respect to the state of the art, citing key related work.

Each paper must be formatted according to the Springer's LNCS Format and must be at most 6 pages in length, with up to 2 extra pages for the bibliography (strictly enforced). Submissions must be single-authored by the PhD student, and the name of the supervisor(s) must be clearly marked as ('supervised by') under the PhD author name.

Papers must be submitted electronically, in PDF format, in the Easychair Submission ( https://easychair.org/conferences/?conf=icsoc2026 ) by selecting the 'PhD Symposium' track.

Presentation and Participation

The PhD candidates of the accepted proposals are expected to present their research at the PhD Symposium and to discuss their work and plans with other PhD candidates and senior researchers. They are also expected to attend every session of the Symposium. Additionally, participants are encouraged to attend the main conference. Accepted papers presented at the Symposium will be included in the ICSOC 2026 post-conference proceedings of satellite events, to be published by Springer as part of the Service Science series.

Review Process

Each submission will be reviewed by members of the Ph.D. Symposium Program Committee. Submissions will be evaluated based on:

  • Originality and clarity of the research problem,
  • Soundness of the research methodology,
  • Relevance to the ICSOC community,
  • Potential impact on the service-oriented computing field,
  • The suitability of the work for benefiting from discussion and feedback within the Symposium.
